Service Learning Home Page

Service Learning is a high school graduation requirement of the Chicago Public Schools. It is a mandate that each student participate in a minimum of forty hours of service prior to graduation. This is a three-step process that involves preparing for the service, participating in service to the community, and reflecting on the experience. A reflection must be completed after each service activity. All Service Learning documentation must be submitted to the Service Learning Coordinator no later than two months after completing the project. Participating in Service Learning prepares a student to be an active participant in society. It helps the community, and at the same time, builds leadership and self-confidence.
