- Senior Jhanus Francisco has been awarded a POSSE Scholarship in the amount of $176,000 over four years. Jhanus will attend Oberlin College in Ohio.
- David Gregg, Cheryl Kodl, Patricia Roby, and Lisa Streff recently received notice that they have achieved the distinction of becoming National Board Certified Teachers.
- Giovanni Navarrete has been selected to be a Page for Rep. Jan Schakowsky. He will live in Washington, D.C. for six months while he fills this position.
- Senn teacher Erin Dickey has been awarded a grant from Roosevelt University’s Communications Department to assist our journalism students in making news podcasts. The grant includes an iMac computer and an Olympus digital recorder.
- Concerned teachers, staff, students, parents, & community members are invited to help develop the 2010-2012 School Improvement Plan at a meeting to be held on Saturday, February 6, from 9:00 - 11:00 am. Registration begins at 8:30. You may enter the school through the parking lot doors.

Our mission is to foster growth, to improve reading and writing, and to help all students realize their full potential. Administration, faculty, staff, parents, partners, and community members will work together cooperatively to increase and improve educational opportunities for all Senn students, including those with special needs.
Senn is a school in which education is the first priority. Senn provides courses at various levels to suit its students. Senn is a school which helps students plan for their future. It has a strong core curriculum which provides help now so that students can be successful in the future.
Senn is a school which provides for partnerships and promotes communication among students, parents, faculty, staff, and administration. Senn is a school which gives students the opportunity for input. Participation is welcomed and appreciated at Senn.
Learning is a lifelong process. Senn offers students the opportunity to get an excellent education with a strong academic focus and to interact with others who are interested in their education as well as in enjoying high school to the fullest.
Senn is a neighborhood high school located in the Edgewater community on the northeast side of Chicago. Senn has a diverse student body that includes students from at least sixty countries and twenty-six states. Special programs and assemblies throughout the year celebrate our diversity and promote positive interaction among students.
The rigorous and challenging academic curriculum at Senn creates a learning environment that empowers all students to set high expectations for achievement. Faculty and staff follow clear and consistent guidelines which have been established to encourage students to accept responsibility for personal goals and to foster respect for all individuals. In addition to academics, Senn offers excitement and fun. There are many activities, clubs, and teams to meet diverse interests.

- International Baccalaureate
- The IB Diploma Program is a comprehensive challenging preparatory program that offers high academic standards and intellectual rigor to qualified, highly motivated students. This program requires students to study six subjects, complete a theory of knowledge course with an extended essay, and participate in 150 hours of creative, physical and service activities in the community. IB programs are currently in place in over 2000 schools throughout the world.
- Advancement Via Individual Determination
- The AVID Program is designed to provide academic support and to prepare students for college eligibility and success. This program emphasizes writing, inquiry, note-taking, tutoring, and parent-student commitment. AVID is currently used in more than 1600 school districts nationwide.
- Education-to-Careers
- ETC programs in graphic design transportation integrate occupational skills standards into the academic curriculum.
- Advanced Placement Courses
- AP courses provide college level academic work in English Language and Composition, English Literature and Composition, Spanish Language, Calculus, Biology, US History, US Government and Politics, and Art with the opportunity to earn college credit while attending classes at Senn. AP courses are offered in school districts nationwide.
- ESL-Bilingual Program
- English as a Second Language and bilingual courses and services are available to meet the individual needs of English-language learners.
- National Defense Cadet Corps
- JROTC is a military-based leadership training program.
- Chicago Police & Firefighter Training Academy
- CPFTA offers training by police and firefighter personnel for students interested in pursuing careers in public safety.
- College Bridge
- Through the College Bridge program, qualified students enroll in college level courses at area colleges and universities to receive high school and college credit.
